President Xi Jinping signals on Friday that China is not scared of war. He further added that they would never let anyone undermine its sovereignty, safety, and developing interests. Consequently, the president stated so in a muscular address to mark 70 years since Chinese troops infiltrated the Korean War.
Any code of unilateralism, monopolism, and bullying would not run and would only drive to a dead-end. Xi said so in a conversation at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, among rising strains with the United States.
“Let the world comprehend that ‘the citizens of China, established and not naive,’” Xi said, citing Mao Zedong, the founding patriarch of the People’s Republic of China.
Xi did not straight refer to the US, whose links with China have dropped to their weakest in decades. The news comes amid intensifying disputes with the government of President Donald Trump.
The world’s two largest economies have quarreled over trade, technological, and defense rivalry to human liberties and the coronavirus. Consequently, Trump’s rigid posture on China has been fundamental to his campaign to gain a second term in the presidential vote on November 3.
“Seventy years ago, the imperialist invaders fired upon the doorstep of a new China,” Xi said as written in the South China Morning Post publication.
“The Chinese people understood that you must use the language that invaders can understand – to fight war with war and to stop an invasion with force, earning peace and respect through victory. The Chinese people will not create trouble but nor are we afraid of them, and no matter the difficulties or challenges we face, our legs will not shake and our backs will not bend,” he further added.
Xi also emphasized the necessity for the modernization of the country’s defense and armed powers. This emphasis is to generate a world-class soldiery.
“Without a powerful army, there is no powerful motherland,” Xi said.
Chinese troops traversed the Yalu River. Consequently, it denotes China’s border with North Korea in October 1950 to support Pyongyang’s fight. This fight is towards the US, United Nations, and South Korean forces. It commenced a few months back.
Earlier this week, the US recognized the potential trade of weapons operations to Taiwan with a total worth of $1.8bn. It angers China, which considers the island portion of its territory and has not ruled out the power to control the island.
It has been growing pressure on Taiwan since President Tsai Ing-wen reached power in 2016 and has risen its military movements this year.
