China to get an exclusive, limited-edition ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ smartphone

After some pushbacks that caused the development time for Cyberpunk 2077 was extended than anticipated, the game is finally releasing next month.

People in China have more than one reason to get excited about the game’s release. It will be coincided with a limited-edition product and will be exclusively distributed in the country—a Cyberpunk 2077-themed smartphone.

The China-exclusive product is the result of the tie-up between CD Projekt Red and OnePlus. The latter itself even ran an event to make the disclosure to the public. A stunt which CDPR lead PR Manager, Radek Grabowski, complemented with a tweet.

Cyberpunk 2077 x OnePlus collaboration was revealed earlier today during the OnePlus 8T event. There’s a limited, CP2077 edition of the smartphone coming soon. More details on this China-exclusive partnership will be announced in early November.”

Having also a strong social media presence, OnePlus brought its marketing to the same platform with a post. It shows a brief video showcasing a ringing gadget, which is eventually revealed to be the collaborative product.

Wait for it

Essentially, a bespoke version of the upcoming OnePlus 8T, it will launch sometime in early November. This will follow the vanilla version’s launch over in the West, particularly in the US and the UK.

Anyone interested in getting their hands on this once-in-a-lifetime product will have to wait until November 4 to preorder it. However, it is worth reiterating that the promotional device is exclusive only to the Chinese market.

Despite exclusivity, the chance is good that Cyberpunk 2077motif OnePlus 8T could see sales in the gray market. However, consumers who are keen on procuring via this means should expect to pay more than the retail price.

Has gone gold

The launch date of CDPR’s latest brainchild project could have seen yet another delay. But after some extensions that see the game’s release date get pushed from one date to the next, setbacks are no longer entertained. So much so, in fact, that the game company’s employees were pushed to double down on their job. Even at the risk of putting the top heads in hot water.

While some people might see the idea of crunching as a big issue, that might not be the case for most gamers. In fact, the idea might have been welcomed such that we’d be seeing the game’s release within the year, rather than later.

The hype towards Cyberpunk 2077 is truly through the roof at this stage. After all, CD Projekt Red has done a good job at building engagement as the game develops through the years.
