Nomadland director Chloe Zhao will make her MCU debut with Eternals later this year. And she’s excited for the film’s future in the franchise.
The acclaimed and young filmmaker will enter the biggest superhero film franchise with Eternals. However, more than that, she seems excited about the story of the movie and its impact. In a recent media interaction, she revealed that the film would introduce new mythology for the Marvel universe.
Eternals and its possible impact on the MCU
Speaking with ET, Chloe Zhao mentioned how the upcoming superhero film is different. And in what ways it will be more significant and unique.
She said that it would be great “getting to know a group of new heroes, falling in love with them and exploring new mythology. It’s a new ride.”
Moreover, she also expressed her happiness about directing Eternals and working with its actors.
“It’s going to be good. I’m proud of it, and I’m very proud of the cast. I’m excited for everyone to see it.”
Her confidence and surety regarding the project will remind some of the MCU lovers of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Upon its debut in 2014, its characters became household names, thanks to an exceptional performance by all the cast members. At the moment, everyone is waiting for its third part.
That’s the beauty of Marvel Studios that it somehow knows how to make unknown characters popular. The same thing might happen in Eternals‘ case if it manages to connect with the audience.
Upcoming titles in the franchise
The current period is filled with many ups and downs for the world’s most prominent cinematic franchise. Due to the pandemic, it’s facing various hurdles when it comes to releasing fresh content.
However, with the beginning of phase four in WandaVision and then Falcon and the Winter Soldier, things look hopeful again. And Marvel Studios will try to continue the streak from now on.
Speaking of the upcoming and multiple MCU projects, there are shows like Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and Loki. Secret Invasion, She-Hulk, Armor Wars, and Ironheart, and a Wakanda-based series are among other anticipated titles.
On the side of movies, there are Spider-Man 3, Thor: Love and Thunder, Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, and Blade. Few more awaited names include Doctor Strange 2, GOTG 3, Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, and Avengers 5.
Coming back to Eternals, then currently it’s set to release on November fifth this year. If the COVID-19 situation remains unchanged, it might arrive just on the Disney Plus streaming platform.
