Director Chloé Zhao’s pitch for the Eternals movie was the best he’s ever heard, says Marvel boss Kevin Feige. The title will be released soon.
According to Screen Rant, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently interacted with the Rolling Stone magazine. And speaking about the Eternals movie, he praised its director, Chloé Zhao. He said that the filmmaker’s pitch regarding the project was the best he’s ever heard.
Talking about the movie itself, he said that it’s a “massive, sweeping, multimillennial-spanning story.”
Eternals: The next big cosmic saga in the MCU!
The Eternals film comprises a large ensemble cast with the likes of Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek. Like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Kevin Feige and his team want this to become the next big hit in the franchise. Although the title’s director is not very popular, that’s not what Mr. Feige ever looks for. Most of the MCU blockbusters that have come so far are from small and unknown filmmakers. Jon Watts (Spider-Man), Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck (Captain Marvel) were behind their immensely successful projects.
Marvel always seeks passionate, intelligent, and creative individuals for their every new title. And Chloé Zhao fits that criteria very well. Besides Eternals, she’s already handled this year’s early Oscar contender Nomadland, starring Frances McDormand. It means that she’s an ace filmmaker, without any doubt. Even if the MCU is all about superheroes, each of its installment also reflects the life and many perspectives around it.
It will be absolutely amazing, for sure, to witness another creative director’s imagination on the big screen. An unexpected cosmic saga is coming soon in the MCU.
Despite the lack of any official movie footage yet, Eternals seems to be on the viewers’ wish list. Thanks to a brilliant casting, it has managed to create a buzz in the last two years.
Upcoming titles in the franchise
Meanwhile, fans of the most famous cinematic universe in the world are waiting for fresh content. And their wish did turn outright earlier this month with the debut of Disney+ show WandaVision. The TV series is also the first entry in Phase four of the MCU. However, the pandemic is still affecting the future of anticipated projects.
After Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s arrival in March, the wait might extend further without any certainty. Because upcoming movies in the MCU, namely, Black Widow and Shang-Chi, including Eternals, have been pushed ahead. They were slated to release in 2021. But now it looks like a Disney Plus exclusive launch is bound to happen instead of theaters.
