Since Chris Evans’s news returning as Captain America to the MCU spread like wildfire, rumors and theories have already begun to circulate.
According to Comicbook, Chris Evans might return as Captain America in the upcoming Secret Invasion MCU series. Wild rumors and speculations have surfaced on the internet already since Deadline recently broke the news.
Chris Evans’ last Marvel project was 2019’s all-time best movie Avengers: Endgame.
Captain America: Theories over the comeback
Going by what Deadline initially shared, then Chris, himself, “is in talks with Marvel Studios to finish a deal.”
Following that, the actor also tweeted a short and brief line on his Twitter profile.
“News to me,” he wrote.
As of now, fans and lovers of the MCU are busy speculating the huge return of Captain America in the biggest entertainment franchise. One possible way of his awaited comeback could be the upcoming Disney Plus series Secret Invasion!
Last year, in December, Kevin Feige announced it officially that Samuel L. Jackson will have his own series with Ben Mendelsohn. They will reprise their roles of Nick Fury and Skrull leader Talos respectively.
Why so? Because the Secret Invasion storyline in the comics revolves around the infiltration of the Earth by the alien race. And Far From Home, in 2019, revealed how Talos and his wife were acting on behalf of Nick and Maria Hill in their absence. So it’s a known fact that the race is capable of doing shape-shifting of anyone.
And Marvel can use this plot of evil Skrull members trying to affect Earth’s superheroes and their relatives by becoming one of them.
So, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers could appear as a Skrull, giving a shocking element to all the fans. But it’s just a possibility as of now due to no official word from Kevin Feige himself. The current news has caught everyone’s attention, but there’s still time for anything to be confirmed eventually.
Upcoming MCU titles in future phases
Meanwhile, the moviegoers are excited for anything MCU that comes next as they have waited for more than a year now. Fortunately, the franchise is now back in action with its first Phase four-installment, WandaVision. The Disney Plus TV series just made its debut on the streamer on Friday. Falcon and the Winter Soldier will arrive next, in March, followed by the release of Black Widow.
Marvel films this year also include Shang-Chi, Eternals, and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3. There’s also the Loki series on the side of TV shows, which will see the return of beloved Tom Hiddleston as the god of mischief. Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Armor Wars, and Secret Invasion titles are expected to arrive in the next two years.
Coming back to Chris Evans’s return as Captain America, then wait is the only thing to do now. Unless something is revealed in an announcement, new theories will keep populating social media.
