Chris Evans has been playing the role of Marvel hero Captain America since 2011. But after the Avengers: Endgame, he thinks it’s now time to put the vibranium shield down.
Questions regarding the return of Chris Evans as Captain America still remains to be asked until today. His character’s fate in the Avengers movie series finale suggested that it was all over for him.
Fans may recall that Captain America or Steve Rogers decided not to return to the present time in Avengers: Endgame so that he can build a life in the past with Peggy Carter.
He was last seen all aged up and passing down the mantle to Sam Wilson or Falcon.

Is his time as the super-soldier really over?
With the conclusion of the Captain’s story in Endgame, it seems like the chance of Evans returning is a slim one.
According to sources, the 38-year old actor weighed in on whether he will make a comeback. But he describes the idea of revisiting Captain America as “risky.”
He recently spoke on The Graham Norton Show and compared to his past answers, and he has been more direct about the matter.
When asked if his time as the soldier hero is really over, he said: “Yes – I think it is.”
He then went on to explain the reason why he thinks that it’s really over for him now. According to him, his time as Captain America was a great run.
But they ended with such a “high note” that he thinks it would be too “risky.”
“It was such a good experience and I think it’s better left that way,” Evans said.
End of contract
It’s also noted that Evans’ contract with Marvel has already ended. This means that he is no longer obliged to reprise his role.
It’s hard to imagine, though not seeing the iconic character anymore in future Marvel films. Director Joe Russo of Endgame once said in the past that it’s not the end for Evans yet.

“He’s not done yet. I don’t want to explain what I mean, but audiences will soon understand,” Russo stated.
There are still so many stories of Captain America to explore with. So even though he gained gray hair in the last film, Marvel can pick up stories via flashback.
Fans are particularly interested in seeing more of his life with Peggy. Steve has also yet to watch his friend Sam be in action as the new Captain America.
Such a scene would be a memorable MCU moment should it happen. For now, fans will just have to follow Chris Evans on his other projects to see more of him.
