Chrissy Teigen came to Kim Kardashian’s defense after the latter experienced criticisms for launching shapewear for pregnant women under the SKIMS underwear line.
Kim Kardashian is getting a lot of criticisms after releasing a new line for her brand. Some are saying she’s suggesting pregnant women should hide their bumps by wearing her shapewear.
Teigen revealed the good use of pregnant shapewear
Teigen, who is currently pregnant with her third child with husband John Legend, shared a clip wearing Kardashian’s creation.
The 34-year-old star wanted to prove that some pregnant women, including her, were happy with the shapewear.
She donned beige control pants and a maternity bra while filming herself in the bathroom mirror, per Mirror Online.
“Hi guys, actual pregnant person here,” she started. “Just wanting to show you and maybe talk a little bit about what pregnancy shapewear is.”
She explained she loved the pregnancy shapewear because it stopped all the folds of her private part and stomach “from eating any other type of underwear.”
Teigen continued that if a woman is pregnant and sitting down, the regular basic underwear would roll inside those folds.
“It doesn’t even look like I have underwear on,” she added. “We’re not trying to do anything to trick you, we’re pregnant.”
The TV personality explained she and other pregnant women only wanted to feel good about themselves when it was mentally challenging to do so.
“What’s the big deal?” she asked.

Kim Kardashian broke her silence over the issue
Meanwhile, Kardashian herself broke her silence over the controversy of her new SKIMS collection.
In a series of tweets, she explained her maternity line’s real use, per E! News.
“@skims maternity line is not to slim but to support,” she said. “The belly part doesn’t slim your belly.”
What the shapewear does is to provide support to help the pregnant woman carry the weight, which is affecting the lower back.
“It’s actually sheer and a thinner layered material compared to the rest of the garment,” she said. “The compression on the leggings helps with pain relief caused by swelling.”
The women can even continuously don the outfit even after giving birth.
“[It] provides the comfort and support that most women need after delivery, especially if you are recovering from a cesarean,” she added.
Kardashian continued they launched this line to respond to the thousands of pregnant women who requested it.
“It was something I personally needed when I was pregnant myself,” she revealed.
With the positive response she gets from its users amid the controversy, Kim Kardashian is proud of her product.
