Another Batman actor might make a cameo in DCEU’s The Flash. Christian Bale is reportedly interested to play the role again, albeit with one condition.
The Flash has already signed up Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck to appear as Batman in different timelines. The new superhero movie, which stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, will delve on a multi-universe. So, Warner Bros asked ex-Batman actors if they want to join the film.
According to We Got This Covered, Warner Bros also asked Bale if he wanted to don his superhero costume again, and he was apparently positive to the idea. However, Bale will only agree to reprise his role if director Christopher Nolan will give him his blessing.
Why Bale wants Nolan’s approval
It’s important for Bale to get Nolan’s approval since he worked and built a close relationship with the director for The Dark Knight trilogy. Nolan hasn’t made any comments in public about the multi-universe plot, but he did work with the DC’s latest Batman actor, Robert Pattinson, on Tenet.
The director said in an interview with IndieWire that they never talked about Pattinson’s Batman role on the Tenet set. Amusingly, he did catch the actor lying about auditioning for the role when he asked to miss a filming schedule. Nevertheless, the director is happy for Pattinson.
“I was thrilled that he was cast, and I think he’ll do an amazing job,” Nolan said. “I’m really excited to see what he does with that character.”
Bale, on the other hand, admitted to Variety that he gave Pattison useful advice on playing Bruce Wayne and his alter ego.
“Just be able to pee by yourself,” Bale said. “You don’t feel like a superhero when you aren’t able to piss by yourself.”
Clooney and Kilmer could be next
The remaining two Batman actors who have yet to sign on are George Clooney and Val Kilmer. According to Fandomwire, Warner Bros is also discussing the cameo with them but they have likely not yet reached an agreement, as of press time.
Kilmer will be joining a DC FanDome virtual panel soon to discuss Batman Forever. Meanwhile, Chris O’Donnell might also be in The Flash to reprise his role as Robin, where he was the sidekick of both Clooney and Kilmer.
Meanwhile, filming for The Flash with all the Batman cameos will begin in March 2021 and the movie has a summer 2022 release date.
