‘Cobra Kai’ season 3: Elisabeth Shue is Daniel LaRusso’s new love interest?

Elisabeth Shue’s arrival in Cobra Kai season 3 will likely shake things up. There’s a loud buzz that her character, Ali Mills, will become Daniel LaRusso’s (Ralph Macchio) newest love interest.

Problems in the marriage between Daniel and his wife, Amanda LaRusso (Courtney Henggeler), were hinted at the second season. Fans apparently strongly believe that the couple will separate in Cobra Kai season 3.

According to reports, there are rumors that Daniel and Amanda will go through a midlife crisis thus paving the way for Daniel to reunite with his old flame, Ali. However, nothing has been confirmed about the plot of the third season except that Shue did work on the set of the Netflix show almost a year ago.

The return of Ali Mills

Older fans of Cobra Kai have been looking forward to the return of Ali Mills in this Karate Kid spinoff. According to Murphy’s Multiverse, Shue worked on the season 3 set for “several days,” suggesting that her arrival will not just be for one episode.

The stars of the show, however, have been keeping Shue’s appearance a big secret. Prior to filming her scenes, the actress said via Entertainment Tonight that she is a fan of the show and that she’s “thinking about making an appearance.”

Her interview about reprising Ali took place before Netflix acquired Cobra Kai. Since then, the show has taken off and has been a bit hit on the streaming platform.

Potential stories for the third season

There are also a few other speculations as to Ali’s storyline. Some fans think that she could actually play Tory’s (Peyton List) mom. Other fans are rooting for Ali to get back with Johnny (William Zabka) and rekindle their high school romance.

“She’d be a great addition to the show, so I’m rooting for it,” Zabka said in one interview but he still won’t divulge what fans can expect of this love story for Cobra Kai season 3.

Meanwhile, Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) is still very much alive when the third season opens. The show will have a time jump instead of picking up where it left off with Miguel fighting for his life at the hospital.

“You’re going to [see] the result of what those events would do to someone like Johnny Lawrence,” Zabka said.

Daniel, on the other hand, will be visiting Okinawa, Japan in season 3 and it’s presumed that he takes this trip to get over the trauma from season 2.

Netflix will release Cobra Kai season 3 on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021.
