Comic-Con International reveals an online event slated for this July, following the recent cancellation of their annual San Diego convention.
Last April, Comic-Con International (CCI) broke some devastating news to comic book fans everywhere by announcing the cancellation of their highly-anticipated yearly San Diego event on account of the coronavirus crisis.
According to their online blog post, in an attempt to soften the blow, San Diego Comic-Con has announced that they’ll be hosting an online event this summer called “Comic-Con@Home.” The online convention will be completely free to attend and will take place from July 22 to 26, 2020.

Advantages of an online convention
Anyone who’s ever been to San Diego Comic-Con—or any major convention for that matter—knows how tough it can be to score yourself a seat at some of the more in-demand panels. Plenty of fans go as far as camping outside the event grounds overnight just to secure themselves a spot.
At Comic-Con@Home, attendees won’t have to compete with one another for the best spot since the event will be streamed online, and attendance costs zero dollars. To make things even sweeter, there will be no limit to the number of guests who want to take part.
For fans who had their heart set on procuring some limited edition merch, Comic-con’s got them covered. The online convention will reportedly feature an Exhibit Hall where exhibitors can showcase their wares, some of which are sure to be exclusive to the event.

Comic-Con finally goes global—sort of
Comic-Con@Home will mark the first time in the history of the convention that Comic-Con will host attendees from all corners of the world, though the guests will technically be attending from the safety of their own homes.
“For the first time in our 50-year history, we are happy to welcome virtually anyone from around the globe,” stated David Glanzer, San Diego Comic-Con spokesperson.
DC films reportedly passing on Comic-Con@Home
Entertainment juggernaut Warner Bros. and all their DC superheroes will reportedly be skipping on the upcoming Comic-Con event, according to MovieWeb.
The publication’s sources reportedly stated that DC and Warner Bros are planning their event on August 22, 2020, which will run for 24 hours.

Fans are eagerly awaiting news from Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, Wonder Woman’s next installment, and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. If the source’s information rings true and DC is planning their show, it’s safe to say that they have some big news to share.
