The Philippines’ COVID-19 tally hits 19,441. The Department of Health also recorded 19,191 recoveries, the most since April 25.
The Philippines reported its highest daily tally of COVID-19 cases – 19,441 – on Saturday, August 28. This brings the country’s total verified cases over the 1.9-million level.
The increasing number of Covid-19 cases in PH
According to the most recent figures, the Philippines’ overall caseload is currently 1,935,700. In addition, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 167 additional fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 33,008.
Meanwhile, there were 19,191 additional recoveries, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 1,760,013. This is the most recovery recorded since April 25, when there were 20,509 recoveries reported.
As recent positive ratings have risen, a new record was expected. On Saturday, 27.5 percent of the 71,620 individuals tested were positive for the virus, indicating that more than one in every four people tested was infected.
Only after additional confirmation was the positive cases added to the count of confirmed cases. According to the department, this procedure helped guarantee that no cases were documented twice and that all test results were provided.
The previous DOH reports
On Thursday, August 26, the DOH reported all testing centers were functioning, but three labs were unable to transmit their results on time. The instances in the report were based on testing that took place two days ago.
The number of cases is likely to “continue to rise in the coming days,” according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, who spoke at the government’s Laging Handa conference on Saturday.

She blamed the increase on the extremely contagious Delta COVID-19 mutation.
“Whatever rises in the number of instances here in the nation that we are currently seeing, it seems that the Delta variation is the source of this,” Vergeire stated in a mix of Filipino and English.
In Metro Manila, where more than half of the cities have bed occupancy rates of more than 70%, Vergeire said the DOH is trying to expand beds, set up tents, and build modular hospitals.
She said that the organization was striving to extend the country’s One Hospital Command referral system’s services.
In addition, the Philippines continues to impose harsh curfews in different areas of the nation.
