Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time now has an ESRB rating classified for the Series X. This detail came from the official US Entertainment Software Rating Board today. The game received a beautiful Everyone 10+, which means it’s ready for the kids.
“Crash” already out for current-gen platforms
It will be surreal to see Crash Bandicoot on the Xbox for the next-gen consoles. Crash was initially set to be the mascot for Xbox rival console Playstation. PS set him to stand among the ranks of Mario for Nintendo and Sonic for Sega.
After a long hiatus, several remasters injected life into the franchise. The three original titles received full remasters, together with Crash Team Racing. Now, a fourth installment is out.
Crash Bandicoot 4 came out last October 2 for the Xbox One and PS4. The game received superb scores from reviewers, enjoying the successful platforming formula it had. The new title added more of these platforming shenanigans into the mix.
The game connects with the first three games from a narrative perspective. The original trilogy came from Naughty Dog, one of Sony’s first-party studios. The platforming aspects of Its About Time pay homage to the first three games.
Developer Toys For Bob also added their flavor into the mix. They including new platforming elements like wall-running, rope swinging, and even rail grinding. Players can still enjoy Crash and Coco throughout the game.
There are also timeline side-levels akin to secret levels in the original games. These allow players to use other characters like Dr. Neo Cortex. Every other character has their own skills and abilities to help them succeed.
No details yet on “Crash 4” free upgrade
The addition of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time to the Xbox gives players more incentive to pick the Series X. It’s the better hardware among the two, together with more games available at launch. Once it releases, it will be interesting what kinds of upgrades are available to players.
Existing owners can play It’s About Time on their current-gen consoles. For Xbox owners, they can play the same game and carry progression through the Smart Delivery System. No exact details yet if PS5 will allow cross-saves for this game.
There’s no information yet if current-gen players can get free next-gen upgrades. There’s also no information about Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time release date. The game will likely come out on launch.
