There are a lot of great titles releasing this year, but perhaps none of them are as anticipated as CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. The game was originally scheduled to launch this September, but it seems like the wait will be far longer.
The pandemic has hit another developer’s project, and this time its CD Projekt Red, who has been working on Cyberpunk 2077. The game was originally slated to launch this September 17, but now it will launch on November 19. This isn’t the first time the game has been delayed, but because of the current situation, it’s not surprising that the developers are dialing back on their original plan.
CD Projekt Red speaks up
The announcement was made via the game’s official Twitter account. The tweet was very straightforward as CD Projekt Red immediately noted why the delay is necessary.
“Those of you who are familiar with the way we make games know that we won’t ship something which is not ready,” CD Projekt Red’s statement simply said. “Our intention is to make Cyberpunk 2077 something that will stay with you for years to come. In the end, we hope you understand why we did what we did.”

The statement goes on, saying that work on the game’s content has been completed. However, due to the scale of the game, CD Projekt Red wants to take the extra time to ensure that it’s polished when it launches.
While the delay will most likely be accepted by the fans of the game, the release is now put on a very interesting date. Both the Xbox One X and the PlayStation 5 are scheduled to release at around the holiday season, which is now at the same time as the release of the game.
Players are now wondering if the game will instead be a part of the launch lineup of the next generation of consoles.
What the game is about
There’s a lot of hype behind CD Projekt Red’s upcoming title. It’s an open-world RPG shooter set in a cyberpunk setting. The developer has teased so much about the game already, including that it has over a thousand NPCs that each have a life of their own.
Despite the delay, we are most likely going to hear more about the game within the coming months as the developer tries to fill the new gap for the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is now launching this November 19. We’ve still yet to know whether it will launch for the next generation of consoles, or it will remain on the Xbox One and PS4.
