CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the most anticipated title of this year. The game might be close to completion, but it seems like the developers still aren’t done with changing a few things in the upcoming title.
The developers of the game are still working on ensuring that Cyberpunk 2077 is at its best upon launch. Even if it means taking off some promised features to streamline gameplay, CD Projekt Red will do it.
No more wall-running
Wall-running is a common feature in FPS and other action-oriented games now. It was also promised to be included in CD Projekt Red’s upcoming title. Still, the developer is dialing back on that promise as per level designer, Max Pears in a recent interview.
“Ah, the wall-running,” Pears said. “That is something that we removed due to design reasons, but there’s still going to be a lot of flexibility in how you move, that’s for sure.”
This is surprising news as the wall-running feature could’ve been a great way to explore Night City and its secrets. While it will be removed in Cyberpunk 2077, the promise of getting new ways to explore the game’s world is more exciting as we get to see the developers use their creative juices to make exploration feel a lot better.
Based on Pears’ statements, we can assume that wall-running proved to be a problem when it comes to the game’s missions. It will be exciting to see how CD Projekt Red works on exploration in general.
Exploring Night City
Aside from going on foot, there are other ways to explore the game’s vast open-world. The trailer suggests that V can ride various vehicles in the game, which makes traveling from one point to the other a lot easier.
There might also be a fast travel option in the game that allows players to get to one point of interest instantly.
As this is a game set in the future, having tools that would help in exploration sounds like a great idea. Something like a grappling hook adds a new depth to exploration and combat, so this might be something the developers are considering as well.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this November 19. It’s going to be an exciting game based on what we’ve seen so far, but it seems like there will be more in store for us to know as the game’s release date draws nearer.
