Cyberpunk 2077 may be running at a stable 30 FPS on the PS4, but it comes at a relative cost.
It comes as a celebration for CD Projekt Red to be bringing its latest brainchild back into the PlayStation platform. This comes after six months of disappearance, following a joint decision with Sony to temporarily remove the game from the platform. Its return also coincides with the release of the latest patch that fixes a laundry list of known issues in-game. However, Cyberpunk 2077’s comeback is anything but celebratory.
Be Forewarned
One thing that PS4 owners would notice with the restoration of the cyberpunk title is Sony’s forewarning regarding which console to run it from. As many would suspect, it pertains to the recommendation of using the superior Pro model instead of the basic PS4 models. Clearly, implying the need for the former’s extra horsepower, which unfortunately also highlights the latter’s relative insufficiency.
That is a serious turn-off for those who indeed are non-Pro owners of the PlayStation 4. But it does not necessarily suggest that the Pro version itself is getting a seamless product this time around. As if the game itself is a limitless source of bugs, the latest version of the game still comes with new issues on its own.
Big Exchange
Benchmark shows that Cyberpunk 2077 now runs at an unflinching 30 frames-per-second, which is indeed all well and good. But major compromises had to be made in order to attain that feat, which comes visible via ElAnalistaDeBits’ video.
The game essentially had to be waterwashed by stripping some of its elements and keep up a desired performance. Specifically, by reducing the game’s pedestrians and removing environmental details that were previously there. A massive trade-off for a mere unchanging 30 FPS was the kind of sacrifice that the developers took.
Fresh Problems
Yet, if that was not disappointing enough, the latest rendition also depicts glitches that would further tarnish the game’s reputation. It now suffers from a case of random pop-ins, the kind that could ruin someone’s ride in-game mid-travel. Which only comes on the nose with Twitter user @Gautoz’s video tweet that showcased how it looks like.

The French user was not alone with the claim, however, as there are others who also corroborate to it. Particularly, those users who are in Reddit and are openly sharing their similar encounters and subsequent dismay with the game.
