Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed again until November. This puts the game within the expected release window of the next-gen consoles.
Ever since Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed, fans worldwide were excited to get their hands on the game. However, the game’s release has been delayed again by the developers.
Another delay
Similar to the popular games scheduled for release this year, Cyberpunk 2077’s release has been postponed once more. As a result, the developers had a meeting to address the issue of delay and the effect of its release on the next-gen consoles.
CD Projekt Red fans have been frantically anticipating the developer’s next game ever since the huge success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, most fans noticed that Cyberpunk 2077 was still a work in progress when it was first announced by the developers.
By the end of May, the developers revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 was still entering its final stages of development. This means that CD Projekt Red is still has a lot of polishing and cleaning up to do before the game can be released.
This was probably a good sign that the game will not be able to meet the expected September launch date.
Game needs polishing
Although the recent delay came as a surprise to most players, the game is fortunately still being released this year. The second delay is unquestionably a clever move by the developers.
In a previous interview, CD Projekt Red confirms that players will be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 as soon as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is launched.
This announcement is intriguing since the developers haven’t made a clear call as to how it will play out on the PlayStation 5. The delay also means that the next-gen consoles might be launching close to Cyberpunk 2077’s release date.
Clarifying issues
The developers also clarified and confirmed a few things that fans were so curious about. First, Cyberpunk 2077 will run on Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. Intriguingly, the game will have better graphics on the next-gen consoles compared to the previous ones.
Lastly, the developers made it clear that the recent delay was not due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The delay was because the game needed a last stretch of polishing and that it demanded a thorough clean up.
While November 19 is a bit disappointing, most fans are still excited about the upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077 and the features it can offer for the next-gen consoles.
