The release of Cyberpunk 2077 may have been pushed to September, but its arrival is quickly drawing near. Here are all the details known about the game so far.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 is already complete. However, the company wants to do some more polishing before they release the game. While you wait, here are all the things people know about the game so far.
Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date
CDPR wants the game to be released when it is ready. During the E3 2019, the company announced an April 16 launch. Apparently, with the novel coronavirus pandemic disrupting the game’s development, that did not happen.
However, the company soon confirmed a September 17 launch, and it now seems like nothing will stop that from happening (hopefully).
Mature Rating
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) gave Cyberpunk 2077 a “Mature” rating, which isn’t really surprising. Players expect more than a bit of violence and sex in the upcoming game.
The ESRB has revealed that there will be many highly suggestive scenes depicting sexual acts in the game. This isn’t exactly new for CD Projekt Red as they also put sex as a core element in The Witcher series.
Players have total control of their characters’ genital size
This is not a joke, the ESRB rating for Cyberpunk 2077 had also revealed that players would now be able to customize their character’s genitals. They would be able to control just how big or small their junk would be or how they would look.
With this feature, could it be that CDPR is trying to promote non-binary characters within the game? This would no doubt be good in terms of representation and inclusivity. However, it is not normal for games to be so politically inclined.
Character Creation
Players will be able to create their own characters in a way that is similar to Mass Effect. Male and female character options are available, with the former being voiced by John Flanagan and the latter Cherami Leigh. There will also dialogue options, and the choices players make will influence the outcome of the story.
There will be full-frontal nudity during character creation. Character creation will depict breasts, buttocks, and genitals.
Stats will be changeable. The game has the basic stats for intelligence and strength. However, there will also be a “cool” stat that would deal with how characters respond to stress and other situations. The cool stat also covers weapon accuracy.
The stats are as follows: intelligence, strength, constitution, reflexes, tech, and cool.
Player characters can also choose from three different origins, namely a Nomad, Corpo, or Street Kid, and each comes with a unique backstory. These origins or “lifepaths,” are also interchangeable.
Romance
There will be romance and possibly, tons of sex. More than that, the character creation will make romance options wider. Basically, the game is more “progressive” thinking. The game has loads of NPCs for players to romance. There are NPCs that are straight, and there are those that are gay and even bisexual.
“There are a lot more options. You know, you’re defining your own character here, which means defining their sexuality any way you want. With Geralt, you had a character whose sexuality was very well defined by the novels and the short stories and the previous games. But in this one, it’s up to you to decide. We’ve got NPCs that are gay, we’ve got NPCs that are bi, we’ve got NPCs that are straight, because we want them to feel real and that they have preferences as well,” quest designer Patrick Mills explains during an interview with Game Informer.
Multiplayer
A multiplayer sounds good for a game like Cyberpunk 2077. Unfortunately, while the prospect of this game mode is highly likely, it may not happen right away.
Even CDPR itself has confirmed that a multiplayer would come eventually, but this will only happen after the game is released, and the company has rolled out a number of DLCs. Players could expect this feature to arrive in 2020 the earliest.
1/2 Until now, the only thing we said about multi was that it was in R&D. As we’re getting closer to launching ‘single player’ Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we’d like to confirm that multiplayer's in the works! Gameplay: FPS
Many believed the game would be a third-person-shooter, but that has proven to be false. Cyberpunk 2077 will be a first-person-shooter game, and this fact was revealed in a gameplay trailer released by CDPR itself.
Despite being a first-person-shooter, there will be instances where the game would shift to a third-person perspective.

In the game, players get to take on the identity of a mercenary called V, who at the beginning takes small jobs. V’s jobs would come from various organizations, and NPCs, and all are either criminal or semi-legal in nature.
The story progresses based on the player’s choices. Multiple factions run Night City and players should know that it would be nearly impossible to please them all. They would be able to steal all sorts of cars in the game but never flight-based ones.
There are also an assortment of weapons available within the game which adds variety to the ways players can kill their enemies. There are even guns with smart-tracking bullets and weapons that can pass through walls. How players’ fight, however, would depend on how they use their points, add implants and augmentations.
There will be lots of Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves plays the character of Johnny Silverhand who was a popular character in the original tabletop game. In Cyberpunk 2077, the character acts a sort of a guide or ghost inside V’s head.
This means that there will be lots of screen time for Keanu Reeve’s character.
Night City
The game is set in the dystopian Night City. According to the CDRP, the city is located somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Lots of factions exist within the city. Prior to the war, the city streets of Night City was once ruled by mobsters. However, four years before the story starts, the corporations soon started to take over. This led to a massive war whose aftermath is the current Night City: a place teeming with mobsters, punks, and corporate thugs.
The city itself is massive and divided into six major districts. Furthermore, there won’t be any loading screens when jumping from one area to another. This provides a more streamline gaming experience for players.
Modding Cyberpunk 2077
The developers have confirmed there will be no modding tools that will arrive with the game in September. Right now, CDPR only wants to focus on releasing the game. But in the near future, they may provide support for modding.
Next-Gen upgrade
It’s not impossible for the game to get an upgrade for next-generation consoles like the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X. But in the meantime, the game will be released for the current generation of consoles.
Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs
CDPR itself has revealed that the upcoming game would have as much DLCs as The Witcher 3. This means that Cyberpunk 2077 would follow the same pattern of downloadable content as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Players can expect to see two massive (paid)expansions and loafs of other free updates from CDPR. However, this would come many months after the game is released.
