As expected, Cyberpunk 2077 broke several records on its launch day. In digital sales, the game registered nearly 74% pre-orders!
According to Games Industry, CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 shattered records in digital sales. And as per the publisher, the figures revealed have shown 74% of pre-orders in this category.
Polish developer’s investors’ relations Twitter account shared the stats within the early hours of the game’s worldwide release. As everyone must be knowing by now, it attracted eight million players during the launch on Thursday. And that, too, includes a vast majority of PC version!
Cyberpunk 2077 dominating sales across the globe
With a huge sales figure on PC, CDPR’s latest futuristic, dystopian style “AAA” title has made a new history. It just beat World of Warcraft’s Expansion record, set a week ago. Cyberpunk 2077 sold around 4.72 million copies on PC, which is insanely amazing.
Another reason for these kinds of statistics is that there are no releases available for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S gamers right now.
Earlier on its release day of December tenth, the game also broke single-player records for Steam, within two hours!
It seems like people are more than interested in playing the highly-awaited launch of 2020.
The long wait of fans has finally ended
Die-hard followers of CDPR and its games were waiting for this one for seven years. And now that it’s out, they are leaving no chance to miss their opportunity. The hyped title made a lot of buzz on social media platforms with weird trends also. It happened when people got to know about the overdrive issue.
The publisher announced a crunch that meant overtime for the entire team that was working on it. Following this news, most game lovers bashed CD Projekt Red and said they missed the deadline. They were also rushing things up to compensate for their mistake, and eventually, it faced yet another delay until December.
However, several other developers supported the publisher in its decision to go into overdrive. They said that it is a normal routine to take such steps. Because a huge “AAA” title like Cyberpunk 2077 demands total refinement. And that it helps the team make sure that a new release is playing brilliantly on all consoles and platforms.
Meanwhile, it’s here, and it will be interesting to see how it fares among those who wanted it so bad! Early reviews for Cyberpunk 2077 have been impressive. Gaming enthusiasts love Night City and the dazzling open-world environment in the plot. However, many critics have raised issues about the lack of proper writing of female characters.
