Cyberpunk 2077 studio responds to work week criticism

Cyberpunk 2077 release date is just around the corner. CD Projekt Red received backlash as fans criticized the company for its six-day workweek.

The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. CD Projekt Red pushed back its release several times now. The latest expected release date would be by the end of the year.

The developers said that the company would avoid extreme employee conditions while working on the game.

However, another delay is not an option as mentioned in their latest company-wide email. Thus, all developers are expected to report for six days every week.

Their latest statement clearly contradicts what CD Projekt Red stated early on this year.

CD Projekt Red Lead developer reacts to criticisms

Adam Badowski, CD Projekt Red, the lead developer posted his response on Twitter.

According to Badowski, the majority of the development team understands that it is needed in order to ship a game that they would be proud of.

“These last 6 weeks are our final sprint on a project we’ve all spent much of our lives on. Something we care for deeply,” he said.

“The majority of the team understands that push, especially in light of the fact we’ve just sent the game to cert and every day brings us visibly closer to shipping a game we want to be proud of,” he added.

“This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make, but everyone is well compensated for every extra hour they put in,” Badowski stated.

Despite the criticism, it seems like CD Projekt Red will push through with its six-day workweek.

Cyberpunk 2077 will surely be a hit when it comes out. But hopefully, the development will have a much-needed rest as they savor the game’s success.
