‘Cyberpunk 2077’: Upgrade with your saved files intact to next-gen console

Console players who are thinking of upgrading their gameplay experience with Cyberpunk 2077 on the console may do so without compromising their in-game progress.

In less than two weeks, anticipating fans can finally get to play CD Project Red’s latest AAA title with Cyberpunk 2077. To be released in both current-gen and next-gen consoles as well as PC, the game is widely accessible for gamers.

Upgrade for later

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners may still have good reasons why they would choose to experience Cyberpunk 2077 in their aging console. One is economic, following the issues brought forth by the pandemic. Another reason is the short supply of next-generation consoles, which is caused by the pandemic.

However, aside from the aforementioned, another ground would be the free upgrade that both Sony and Microsoft are introducing. Essentially, giving current-gen owners the chance to transition to next-gen without the need to buy the game anew. All they would need is to own the game legitimately in their existing console, which plays the role of a ticket for the complimentary upgrade.

Of course, those who would choose to play Cyberpunk 2077 on either PS4 or Xbox One would be missing out on certain perks. Or advantages that come inherent with the more advanced hardware of either PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Such as a crisper image, faster loading times (if any), graphical embellishments, and stable framerate.

Transition with saved file in tow

For Xbox One users, making the shift to Xbox Series X/S should be a relatively simple affair. Thanks to Microsoft’s Smart Delivery feature, players can easily enjoy the game on their new and better hardware via the cloud, including the saved file. The idea applies whether the user owns the physical or digital copy of the game, which is mainly a difference between having a physical disc to insert to or downloading the game from Microsoft’s cloud service.

Those coming from PS4 will also find a similar feature via their existing PSN account, particularly as a PS+ subscriber, which is as simple as uploading their saved file to the cloud from the PS4 and then redownloading it on PS5.

But for those who are not subscribed to PS+ can still transfer their saved file through a different means. They may either do so via direct transfer between a physically-or wirelessly-linked PS4 and PS5 or via a storage medium. The idea may sound intimidating to the unfamiliar. But Sony is making the process less as daunting through several guides on the internet.
