David Attenborough joined Instagram on Thursday. He became the fastest personality to gain a million followers, breaking the Guinness records of Jennifer Aniston.
David Attenborough is an eminent naturalist and a broadcaster. He worked with BBC Natural History and produced an excellent documentary series. The Life Collection, one of his finest works, shows the natural history and animals in our world.
David Attenborough was named one of the 100 greatest Britons of all time in 2002. He has won the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) for black and white, color, HD, 3K, and 4K TV shows. In the television and documentary field, he is a legend and a dedicated naturalist. There are more than 20 species of plants and animals named in honor of him. He has received 32 honorary degrees from British Universities, more than any person alive. It is amazing to see how he works with passion at the age of 94.
The record-breaker
On Thursday, David Attenborough joined Instagram, the image-sharing social media site. After a few hours, he broke records by getting a million followers just within less than five hours. He did this amazing feat in four hours and 44 minutes, according to Guinness World Records.
Attenborough is no newcomer to Guinness World Records. He already holds two Guinness records before – ‘Longest career as a TV presenter’ and ‘television naturalist.’
The previous record was of Jennifer Aniston’s when she joined Instagram on October 15, 2019, by getting one million followers within 5 hours and 16 minutes.
The first message
David Attenborough joined the platform with an Instagram TV message. In that message, he introduced himself with his iconic tome. He stated that he joined the platform only because the “world is in trouble.”
“Continents are on fire, glaciers are melting, coral reefs are dying, fish are disappearing from our oceans. The list goes on and on,” he said. “But we know what to do about it, and that’s why I’m tackling this new way of communication.”

“Over the next few weeks, I’ll be recording messages to explain what the problems are, and how we can deal with them,” he said.
“Saving our planet is now a communications challenge. We know what to do, we just need the will. That’s why we want to share this message on Instagram. Because there is hope and together, we can inspire change,” David added.
The broadcaster assured fans to share some messages, behind-the-scenes clips, and his thoughts on global crises as a result of this profiling activity.
His Instagram post stated that Jonnie Hughes and Colin Butfield would manage his profile.
His arrival to Instagram is seen as an opener to his Netflix documentary and his book titled A Vision for the Future. As of now, he has 4.6 million followers, with three IG TV posts. His first post garnered 16.9 million views and 1.6 million likes.
