A “long-dead” franchise is being brought back to life with EA announcing a Dead Space remake.
EA Play made a surprising announcement when it made confirmation to a topic that has been in discussion for months. That is, that of the subject that EA’s 2012 title, Dead Space, is making a “reboot”.
In an official press release, EA claims how the remake will be “rebuilt from the ground up”. Technically, referring to how the seminal title is going through a major tinkering, potentially with the intent of reviving the series overall.
Reboot or Remake?
It is worth noting that the terms “remake” and “reboot” do not necessarily hold the same meaning, therefore not interchangeable. Likely, to clarify any potential misconception with GameBeat’s Jeff Grubb’s report stating how the game is indeed getting a “remake/reboot”. Although, it is entirely possible that the two may do overlap towards the revival of said long inactive franchise.
Short teaser. I've heard the game looks incredible. We will probably hear more about it soon. It's a reboot/remake. It'll have elements from multiple entries in the series. https://t.co/iaqk4E8HjL

Another interesting aspect of the news is in how the project is being developed by a new team, EA Motive. Interestingly, this new developer is said to be committed in elevating the experience from the original. Specifically, “through stunning visuals, audio and controls powered by the Frostbite™ game engine”.
But game presentation is not the only one that’s getting an uplift. It seems that the game is generally being improved across the board as well, narrative- and playability-wise. Particularly, via its “story, characters, and gameplay”. That is, all while sticking true to the core elements established in the original.
Next-gen Platform Experience
For all these good things to happen, however, EA is bringing the remake to next-gen platforms. This means taking advantage of the new platforms’ advanced capabilities, including PC. Alternatively, this would also imply gamers going for essential upgrade to experience the series anew or for the first time.
In Dead Space, players take on the role of Isaac Clarke aboard the mining spaceship USG Ishimura. An engineer whose original task is to repair a sprawling ship, he encounters the horror of what had taken place. That is, in how its crew had been slaughtered and infected by aliens while having a dear partner missing within it. Using available tools and his technical prowess, Isaac must explore the haunted ship into uncovering the mystery underneath. All the while trying to survive some hostile threats called “necromorphs”.
Dead Space will be playable on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
