Fans eagerly waiting for Deadpool 3 feel disappointed at the lack of news regarding the new MCU property. But, it looks like Disney CEO Bob Iger is championing the film.
There are fears among fans that Deadpool 3 would not be a priority project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But Disney chief Bob Iger himself seems to have assured fans that the movie is in the pipeline.
Last month, Iger changed his Twitter banner photo to a collage of characters from Disney-owned projects. This included Baby Yoda, Buzz Lightyear, and surprisingly, Deadpool.
Original comic book creator Rob Liefeld excitedly posted a screenshot of Iger’s Twitter banner photo change. According to some fans in the comments, this could be the Walt Disney Company’s way of reaffirming its commitment to the character.
Rob Liefeld on Deadpool 3
Previously, Rob Liefeld expressed his frustration at the “zero” plans for Deadpool 3 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The comic book genius said that the insanely popular franchise is currently not in the MCU’s five-year plan.
Starting tomorrow, I’M crashing this party. There’ll be music, tacos, and a whole lotta Deadpool.

Moreover, Rob Liefeld said in an Inverse Happy Hour interview:
“I don’t know. Here’s what people don’t want to hear, but thank God I’m a realist. I feel like Deadpool, the movies, they’ve set sail. We got two brilliant movies, and we live in a culture that always looks forward because all they’re ever selling us is ‘next, next, next.’ It’s the fever.”
Disney-Fox merger causes Deadpool delay
Deadpool 3 is partly a victim of the merger between the Walt Disney Company and 20th Century Studios. Disney’s purchase of the original home studio meant that Deadpool will operate under the Marvel Studios brand for the first time.
Deadpool screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick previously acknowledged that the producers are still figuring out how to fit in their new corporate environment. Once they come up with a great way to connect the character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they will begin working on the movie.
“Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox,” Wernick told Entertainment Weekly.
Ryan Reynolds in talks to join Dragon’s Lair
In other news, Ryan Reynolds might be joining a new project. The Green Lantern actor could star in the live-action Netflix adaptation of the video game Dragon’s Lair.
As per Variety, Reynolds is in negotiations with Netflix to star and produce the adaptation. If the deal is finalized, the star will produce through his Maximum Effort production company.
Reynolds already has a strong history with Netflix. He previously starred in the streamer’s action flick 6 Underground in 2019. He will also shoot the action-comedy movie Red Notice with Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson.
It will be up to the Walt Disney Company as to when Deadpool 3 comes out. Ryan Reynolds, on the other hand, will appear in the science fiction film Free Guy.
