Singer and TV personality Demi Lovato revealed that she is no longer friends with childhood best friend Selena Gomez.
The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer has once and for all finally cleared out her friendship status with Gomez.
Lovato talked about it in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine of which she is in the front cover of for the May issue.
Lovato’s childhood friends
It all started when she was asked if she is still in touch with the Jonas brothers. The four go way back to Disney Channel’s original movie Camp Rock which was released in 2008. But despite being very close then, Lovato answered no.
She then brought up her friendship with Miley Cyrus who is also a Disney alumnus. She said that she still talks to Cyrus and that she has been the only one from her old friends that she still keeps in touch with.
Her revelation then led to a conclusion that what she said meant that she is no longer connected with Gomez.
Gomez and Lovato have been very close since their time on Disney. Their friendship also was an open book even after heading to different directions.
However, Lovato claims now that this time around she is no longer close with the “Lose to Love You” pop star.
“When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. But I’m not friends with her, so it felt …” Lovato said, not finishing her thoughts.
“I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”
Lovato surprised her fans with her statement considering Gomez had just recently shown support for her friend for her comeback performance during the Grammy’s in January.
Gomez had written a tribute message for Lovato on her Instagram story.
“I wish there were words to describe how beautiful, inspirational, and DESERVED this moment was,” Gomez wrote.
“Demi, I’m so happy for you. Thank you for your courage and bravery.”
Lovato admitted that she was surprised by the gesture but it only gave her mixed feelings. She did not respond to Gomez though and she never revealed the reason why.
