‘Demon Slayer’ continues to soar in 2021 with new a major sales milestone

Koyoharu Gotouge’s original manga series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, has hit a significant sales milestone in 2021!

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was one of the most successful manga releases in Japan last year. The anime was also especially notable, considering the series came to an end in 2020 as well.

But despite its end, it indeed has not stopped the hype train from rolling. This is with the initial success from the first season, and the success of the follow-up Mugen Train feature film has kept fans buying volumes of the original series so they can enjoy the story as many ways as possible.

Demon Slayer is not slowing down

This year, the success of the anime run has not slowed. On February 15, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba announced that the series’s total print and digital run has now reached 150 million copies.

Previously, the series’s original run had only totaled around 3.5 million copies. This is with ten or so volumes released at that point before the premiere of the anime.

In December last year, the 23rd and final volume of the series was released. It somehow brought its landmark to 120 million copies. That means that within the short few weeks since that final volume’s release, it jumped up yet another 30 million.

The anime is gearing for the second season

However, the series is sure to continue to be successful even with these jumps. Recently, the anime has announced its plans to continue with the second season of episodes this year.

At a later point this year, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will officially be continuing with the second season of episodes. It is confirmed to be picking up following the events of the Mugen Train film. Moreover, the series’s new season will be adapting the Entertainment District arc.

For manga fans, this is one of the most extended arcs for the anime to date, and it begins with Chapter 70 of the series.
