During the spring in Japan, Demon Slayer was added to multiple streaming services. In the Weekly Shonen Jump in May, there was an uptick in searches when the manga ended. Overall, more people searched for anime compared to last year.
This includes an emphasis on “reairing,” “character,” and “song“ as additional search terms.
The awardees of the Yahoo! Japan Search Awards are decided based on the number of searches for a particular term compared to the year before.
It records the people, products, and media that receive the most drastic increase in searches. This is in comparison to the previous year‘s receive awards.

A topical classic, Albert Camus’ The Plague (La Peste), received the book category. The story of the novel was based on a cholera outbreak in 1849. But this year, the story takes on new relevance.
Meanwhile, two of the stars of the drama series Incurable Case of Love took the search engine by storm.
The most searched actor of 2020 is Kamen Rider Den-O and Rurouni Kenshin live-action film actor Takeru Satoh. Also, the most searched actress is actress and singer Mone Kamishiraishi.
