Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba franchise has grown in popularity after its anime adaptation series dropped on various streaming platforms.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a dark shonen anime fantasy series, based on Koyoharu Gotōge’s manga of the same name. It revolves around the life of the kind-hearted Tanjiro Kamado, who lived with his family in the cold mountains.

However, his family died because of demons. On top of that, his sister Nezuko has turned into a demon in a horrific twist of fate. Fortunately, Nezuko was different from other demons and showed signs of humanity.
To avenge his kin, Tanjiro joined the Demon Slayer Corps, a non-governmental group devoted to tracking down demons. Moreover, he embarked on a perilous journey to make his sister human again.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba manga surpasses One Piece
Earlier this year, Japan Oricon’s chart revealed the top-selling manga for a particular week. With Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba’s volume sales, it came out on top. Moreover, the manga broke a record that One Piece set back in 2011.

Weekly Shonen Jump has further revealed the details of the news. The shonen manga anthology shared on its official Twitter account,
“Kimetsu no Yaiba has officially broken the record for the most copies sold within Oricon’s fiscal year with a total of 38,191,494 copies, 31 weeks before the year is completed. Previous record was held by ONE PIECE with 37, 996, 373 copies in 2011.”
Opening theme song Gurenge hits impressive milestone
The show’s massive hit has lead to a boost in every aspect of Demon Slayer’s franchise. This includes the show’s opening theme song, LiSA’s Gurenge. The track did a fantastic job of incorporating itself into the series as it has gotten over 17,000 digital downloads.
Furthermore, it has become the highest downloaded song per week. Consequently, the song hit the insane level of triple platinum. This means that it has broken over 750,000 digital sales by fans of the artist and the anime franchise alike.

Recently, Gurenge has attained a new and impressive milestone. LiSA’s official Twitter account has announced that the opening theme has been streamed over 100 million times across various subscription streaming services around the world. Reportedly, the figure started rising after Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba’s premiere.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba movie and spinoff underway
The franchise is also set to release a new movie entitled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – Infinity Train on October 16, 2020. Furthermore, a spinoff series is already in the works. The spinoff will have a new plot and will focus on the character of Kyojuro Rengoku.
