Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba has gathered a lot of hype since its release on Netflix. It even became one of the most viewed shows on the streaming platform, undermining non-anime titles. Doubtlessly, this anime series has generated more popularity than those titles released beforehand.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a dark fantasy shonen anime series, based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotōge. It revolves around the life of the kind-hearted Tanjiro Kamado who lives in the cold mountains with his family.
Tragically, while he was away, his family were murdered by demons. On top of that, in a tragic twist of fate, his sister Nezuko has become a demon. Surprisingly, Nezuko turned out to be different from other demons and showed signs of humanity.
Hence, to avenge his family, Tanjiro entered the Demon Slayer Corps, a non-government organization dedicated to hunt down demons. He also embarks upon a perilous journey to turn back his sister into human.
Sadly, it appears that there are just a few stories left to tell about Tanjiro’s journey. This is because the manga of the widely popular series has officially ended. Creator Koyoharu Gotouge brought Tanjiro’s journey to an end this week as her series’ dropped its final chapter.
Alongside the finale was the creator’s message which thanked everyone who has supported Demon Slayer. In the most recent issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, Koyoharu wrote,
“Thank you so much! I wish happiness from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has supported me.”
The penultimate chapter of the manga featured a huge time skip. It moved the world of the series three generations forward to modern day Tokyo. It’s implied that the characters from the original series have died and was consequently reincarnated.
However, what put the fans into a wave of delirium was the fact that Nezuko, Tanjiro’s sister, had children with someone chasing her the entire series. In the finale, Nezuko and Zenitsu’s great grandchildren, Yoshiteru and Toko Agatsuma, looked exactly like them.
Unsurprisingly, Zenitsu’s reincarnated self is still overprotective and jealous of those who get close to Nezuko. In the finale’s scene, Yoshiteru reads a book titled The Legend of Zenitsu and discusses the idea of reincarnation with his sister Toko. The lad further said,
“I believe that everyone who fought demons and died for a peaceful world was reborn into a happier life.”
