Despite the end of its manga run, the Demon Slayer anime still never fails to amaze its fans. Now, three of its volumes have been reported to have sold over 5 million copies!
Oricon reported three volumes of Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga had sold more than 5 million copies.
The eighth, first, and seventh volumes have sold 5.03 million, 5.029 million, and 5.009 million copies.
Since Oricon’s posting with its weekly book ranking charts in April 2008, these are the first manga volumes to sell with a staggering record in print.
The staggering digits achieved by the manga
During the December 28-January 3-week, the eighth, first, and seventh volumes sold 66,000 copies, 69,000 copies, and 107,000 copies, respectively.
The anime’s seventh volume includes the arc in the record-breaking Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train.
Additionally, Tatsuya Endō’s SPY×FAMILY manga’s sixth volume, which shipped on December 28, ranked at #1.
It sold 538,000 copies in the same week and is the second volume in the series to rank #1 in the chart.

As of December 6, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has overall sold 102.892 million copies. The anime is now Oricon’s records’ second manga series to sell over 100 million copies.
It was One Piece, which became the first series to achieve this feat in 2012. From November 30 to December 6, the series’ 23rd and final volume sold 2.855 million copies.
It was recorded to be the most that any manga volume has sold in one week. This is since April of 2008 when Oricon began reporting its book ranking charts.
More astonishing feats
In both Oricon’s annual general book ranking and annual manga ranking, the franchise was the first since 2008 to dominate within the same year.
Starting November 18, 2019, until November 22, 2020, the manga sold an estimated 82,345,447 copies.
Moreover, it was also the first franchise on the annual manga ranking chart to take the top 22 slots by volume.
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s limited editions of volume 20 and 21 claimed the #27 and #28 spots. The series occupied 24 spots of the top 30.
Meanwhile, when regular and limited editions are combined, over three million copies were sold for each of its first 22 volumes. This is in the past 12 months.
