The next Call of Duty title continues to make headlines as rumors, alleged leaks, and speculations loom amid Activision’s silence about it.
July is about to come to a close and Activision is yet to introduce Call of Duty 2020. As reports have it, this is the longest that the community has gone by without receiving any official announcement. However, recent news updates just further strengthened Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War as the next title for the game franchise.
Doritos bag with a CoD promotion
Modern Warzone was first to report about the said leak, after known CoD leaker, The Gaming Revolution, received an intel through his Twitter’s Direct Message. This unusual source came from an alleged Doritos chip bag promotion.
Per Eurogamer, the images are yet to be verified. Nevertheless, looking at the images, it looks like the highly speculated title, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, is being promoted.
These are the two Doritos Double XP promotional images that I was DM'd earlier from an anonymous source for Call of Duty 2020 Black Ops Cold War. I was too worried about copyright issues to post them earlier but since CharlieIntel shared them I (assume?) they're safe. pic.twitter.com/yvvjH7CvKU

The pack also mentions the start date of the “2XP for a year” promotion, which is allegedly on October 5 this year. This was then assumed as the probable release date for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.
Forbes further noted that this may follow a similar pattern that Activision took for Modern Warfare last year. The game had an early October promotion, with the gaming launching on the 25th.
The media outlet guesses an October 23 release. Of course, this is considering that the rumors and the leaked Dorito bag promotion are true.
Other Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War leaks
Meanwhile, data miners have been hard at work last week, with the mysterious Red Door title appearing on the Microsoft Store and on the PlayStation Store listing.
Per Inverse, “The PSN listing for The Red Door included a content ID tag of ‘COD2020INTALPHA1,’ with the ‘COD2020’ line making it seem like this was a Call of Duty 2020 alpha build in disguise.”
As to the mode of plays to be made available, reports have it that there will be a “Zombies Mode.” As it turns out, data miners were able to dig up a name of a map called Silver.
This was then compared to Treyarch’s patterns wherein the devs used colors as as names for the Zombies map, starting with Black Ops 4.
13 Campaign missions were also reportedly found, along with eight multiplayers maps, and four zones in Warzone that’ll be made available for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.
As always, readers are reminded to take rumors, leaks, and speculations with a grain of sailt. Should the October release be true, here’s to hoping that Activision will finally shed some light on this matter next in the coming months.
