Jennifer Aniston was very popular due to her role on NBC’s sitcom Friends, where her ex-husband Brad Pitt made a cameo in one episode.
Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt got married in 2000 and divorced five years later. Aniston was well-loved for her character “Rachel Green” on Friends. And some reports are questioning whether Aniston forced Pitt to appear in the series.
Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt on Friends
Jennifer Aniston has made a name in the comedy genre, while Brad Pitt is more popular for drama and action films. However, in Friends season 8 episode 9 entitled The One with the Rumor, Pitt appeared on Aniston’s popular sitcom.
David Crane, the creator of the show, spilled the beans about Pitt’s guesting. He admitted that Pitt was initially hesitant because the set up was very different from what he usually does.
“I think [there was] a little bit [of hesitation]. Only because he’d never done TV in front of an audience, and it’s a very specific skill set. I think it’s probably a little intimidating if you haven’t done it before,” Crane said.
He hinted that Aniston might have persuaded Pitt to join her. And he was happy that Pitt appeared on the show.
“Obviously, it was up to him, and it was up to [Jennifer], and it was just a great piece of casting,” he added.
Although Pitt was initially hesitant, it doesn’t mean that he was forced to appear on the show. He praised the cast.
What did Pitt say on his Friends guesting?
Brad Pitt looked back at his guest appearance on Friends in 2019. The Ad Astra actor shared that it wasn’t completely smooth sailing.
However, he had nothing but good things to say about the cast, which included his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.
“Great cast, man,” Pitt said told Access. “I mean, they laughed and really had a great time with each other.”
When it comes to his performance, the award-winning actor shared that he flubbed when he delivered his first line, so they had to stop and redo it.
“I flubbed my first line. We had to stop and start again,” Pitt said.
What happened in the episode
In the episode, Monica (Courteney Cox) invited Will Colbert (Brad Pitt) at home. Rachel Green (Jennifer Garner) couldn’t remember Will and even attempted to flirt with him.
Rachel didn’t recognize Will because he shed 150 pounds since their school days and looked hot during their reunion. However, unbeknownst to Rachel, Will is a former member of the “I Hate Rachel” club with her then ex-boyfriend Ross Geller (David Schwimmer).
It was later revealed that Will and Ross were behind the major rumor claiming that Rachel was “hermaphrodite.”
