Contrary to what many may believe, League of Legends Wild Rift isn’t a direct port of League of Legends for the PC. Riot Games created an entirely new game based on the popular MOBA. Here are the major differences between the two.
For starters, not every champion from the PC version will make its way into Wild Rift. Currently, there are less than 50 champions for the mobile version, whereas the PC version has over a hundred. Riot Games did say that they are going to expand the roster in the future by bringing back some fan favorites.
Apart from the roster, some of the champions have been tweaked to fit the new platform they are going to be playable on. For instance, some champions that have purely passive skills have been updated so that they have active skills instead.
The map in League of Legends Wild Rift will be mirrored. This means players, regardless of what side they are on, will see the same thing. In the PC version of the game, each of the two factions has their maps with different creeps and layout. The mirrored structure of the map in the mobile version is tailored like other mobile MOBAs.
Matches in the mobile version will be significantly shorter. In League of Legends, matches can last for an hour, at least. Riot Games has made a few changes to make the matches much quicker.
For starters, the level cap in the mobile version is only 15, whereas it’s 18 in the PC version. Creeps that die nearby also drop gold, which makes it possible for the champions to grow stronger quicker. In total, matches in the PC version can last for 15-20 minutes or more depending on the players.
The jungle creeps have been changed as well. Both teams will have access to similar jungle creeps on their sides.
League of Legends Wild Rift launches in alpha test on the Philippines and Brazil on June 6. Riot Games is planning on releasing the game on console and mobile devices fully sometime this year. With the launch of the game, a new formidable MOBA has made its way into mobile devices.
