Disappeared in the Darkness: An ID Mystery is Investigation Discovery’s latest crime documentary. It follows the mysterious case of 20-year old Myrtle Beach resident Heather Elvis.
Investigation Discovery released another TV special of their new true-crime show. Titled Disappeared in the Darkness, it is a two-hour special covering the beginning until the present-day investigations on the case of Heather Elvis.
The documentary aims to do an in-depth digging of the 2013 case and try to find answers to the questions that are still unanswered up to today.
Who was Heather Elvis?
Heather Elvis was a 20-year old waitress and student from South Carolina. A native of Horry County, she was studying to be a cosmetologist.
She lives in her own apartment which she shares with a roommate from out of state. She was a woman full of potential with a promising future ahead of her.
But all of those dreams went down the drain on December 18, 2013, when she was reported missing. The last person she talked to was her roommate and it was around one in the morning.
Since then, they’ve never heard from her again. Up to this day, Elvis has never been found.
What happened to her?
Elvis’ disappearance story all started in June 2013. According to sources, she met 38-year-old Sidney Moorer, a repairman at one of the restaurants she was working.
She found interest in him despite being a married man. Eventually, the two pursued an affair with Elvis even writing about him on social media.
Her roommate said that Elvis expressed sexual interest in him and she was always talking to her friends about her relationship with him.
According to Elvis’ friend, Brianna Kulzer, Moorer had told Elvis that he was in an open marriage and that his wife also had a boyfriend. Kulzer also said that Moorer planned on leaving his wife.
By September 2013, Moorer said that their affair ended. But Moorer’s wife, Tammy, found out about the affair in October 2013. Prosecutors said Tammy was enraged and started threatening and harassing Elvis.
One night, Elvis received a phone call from Moorer and prosecutors believe that she was lured by the Moorers to Myrtle Beach’s Horry County boat landing.
Her car was found abandoned there also which is believed to be the place where she was killed.
After investigation and trials, the Moorers were convicted and sentenced to 30 years for conspiracy and kidnapping charges. The two maintained their innocence and Elvis’ body was never found.
Disappeared in the Darkness: An ID Mystery featuring Heather Elvis premiered on May 27 at 9 pm on Investigation Discovery.
