On Tuesday, Disney dropped a poster on Cruella official Twitter account. The material shows Emma Stone donning the villain’s signature white and black hair, complete with a very dark eye shadow and black lipstick.
The official Twitter account of the Walt Disney Company also shared the same post, alongside the caption, “Hello, Cruel World. New Trailer Tomorrow.”
The studio also teased that a new trailer will arrive on Wednesday following the release of the Cruella poster.
The 32-year-old plays the younger version of the iconic 101 Dalmatians villain in the highly-anticipated live-action.
Cruella serves as the prequel and tells the story of a young designer named Cruella de Vil, who becomes obsessed with dogs’ skins.
The new development came years after the actress revealed that it would be a “1970s, set in London, and punk rock” movie.
“It’s 1970s, set in London — can you get out of my eyeliner please?” Stone teased during Disney’s 2019 D23 Expo. “It’s punk rock. A great cast.”
Aside from Stone, Cruella also invited several award-winning stars to be part of its cast members.
Emma Thompson (Baroness), Joel Fry (Jasper Badun), Paul Walter Hauser (Horace Badun), Emily Beecham (Anita), Mark Strong (Boris), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Tabitha), and Jamie Demetriou (Gerald) joined the team.
In 2019, Stone sat for an interview with ET where she divulged what it felt like to be the younger version of Cruella.
“It’s pretty trippy. It’s wild,” she said.
The La La Land actress also confessed that her inspiration to perfectly portray the role are Glenn Close and the original 1961 classic One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
Close previously scored the role and appeared as the villain in Disney’s 101 Dalmatians adaptation in 1996. The actress left her post and now serves as an executive producer on Cruella.
“I think she’s obviously the GOAT, but I also have just loved the cartoon for a really long time,” Stone described Close. “This comes before [Close’s] story. This leads to her to where she becomes true greatness.”
