Disney’s ‘Phineas and Ferb’ returns to the big screen this summer

Phineas and Ferb: Candice Against the Universe will premiere this summer on the streaming platform Disney Plus.

Disney’s animated show Phineas and Ferb has gathered a lot of hype during its run time. Doubtlessly, the series’ sense of wit and irreverence made it one of the most successful animated TV shows in history. Unfortunately, the team behind Phineas and Ferb decided to end the show in 2015 after airing for seven years.

Phineas and Ferb series and first movie

Despite the series’ imminent ending, several viewers still couldn’t get enough of the adventures that Phineas and Ferb offered. Hence, Disney decided to produce a made-for-television film entitled Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension. The movie aired on the network’s TV channel in 2011.

Disney announces second Phineas and Ferb film

After the show’s 4-year long hiatus, Disney has once again revealed a Phineas and Ferb second movie in the works. Reportedly, the forthcoming film will be entitled Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against The Universe. Along with this announcement comes the news that the installment will drop on the streaming platform Disney Plus in the summer of 2020.

Moreover, Disney unveiled the first look at Phineas and Ferb’s latest movie. The platform tweeted varying photos of the show’s cast and further captioned,

“Enjoy this sneak peek of Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe, an Original Movie coming Summer 2020 to #DisneyPlus. #DisneyBundle”

Plot and Cast

The upcoming film will feature Phineas and Ferb navigating through the galaxy. After their sister Candice was taken away by aliens, they will strive hard to rescue her. However, this will likely be a difficult mission as Candice already found a paradise far away from her bothersome brothers.

Phineas and Ferb original cast will reprise their roles for the next movie. Devotees will witness the return of Ashley Tisdale (Candace Flynn), Vincent Martella (Phineas Flynn), David Errigo (Ferb), Caroline Rhea (Linda), and Dee Bradley Baker (Perry the Platypus).

The roster is not complete without Phineas and Ferb’s squad, as well as their enemies. Thus, the film will also star Alyson Stoner (Isabella), Maulik Pancholy (Baljeet), Bobby Gaylor (Buford),  Olivia Olson (Vanessa), Tyler Mann (Carl), and Povenmire (Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz).

Creator teases more details about the movie

Phineas and Ferb creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh shared their insights about the storyline of the latest installment. Povenmire explained,

“It’s a different story than we often told with the show. We had never really put Candace in jeopardy and told any rescue stories that way.”

Above all, the creators assured that the movie would delight newcomers. At the same time, it will satisfy the show’s loyal followers. Anyone who would watch the film would feel like a blast because of Dr. Doofenshmirtz-brand nostalgia-inator.
