Disney’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6′ rejects Johnny Depp to make way for a ‘reboot’

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 was officially confirmed by Disney but it appears that Johnny Depp will not return to reprise his role.

The Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the inspiring and funny series in the film industry. This movie series is among Hollywood film franchises, with each launch grossing over $650 million at the box office.

It became a mega-hit because of the cast’s fantastic acting abilities and top-tier visual effects. Considerably, these are just a few of the reasons why the sixth instalment of the series is a movie to anticipate.

Previous titles of the series

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is the first film that started the series. It received positive reviews from critics and grossed $654 million.

After the first movies’ success, Dead Man’s Chest was released in 2006. The sequel proved successful as it became the number one film of the year upon earning almost $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office.

The third film in the series At World’s End, followed in 2007 earning $960 million. Consequently, Disney released a fourth film, entitled On Stranger Tides. The movie succeeded in also grossing more than $1 billion and became the eighth film in history to achieve this.

On 2017, Dead Men Tell No Tales was released as the fifth instalment of the series. Earning $794 million worldwide. It became one of the highest-grossing films in 2017.

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 details

The sixth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean will be written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The process has already begun, and the movie is expected to be finished in 2021.

Although this film has been confirmed already, no trailer or teaser has been released. Details are scarce regarding specific details of the storyline but one thing is for sure: the nightmare of Davy Jones’ return will be included in the film.

As for the cast, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are expected to come back as Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner, respectively. Other cast members include Benton Thwaites as Henry Turner, Kaya Scodelario as Carina Barbossa, and Kevin McNally as Joshamee Gibbs.

Will Johnny Depp play as Jack Sparrow

Disney has decided to move ahead on the upcoming film without Johnny Depp playing Captain Jack Sparrow. The departure was rumored as a way for the studio to reboot the franchise.

Also, to start completely fresh as well as potentially distance itself from the actor following allegations of domestic abuse from ex-spouse Amber Heard. Disney Chief of Film Production, Sean Bailey has previously stated,

“We want to bring in a new energy and vitality. I love the movies, but part of the reason Paul and Rhett (screenwriters) are so interesting is that we want to give it a kick in the pants. And that’s what I’ve tasked them with. “

A reboot is precisely what it says on the tin. A means of starting fresh with the same concept and going forward without the old crew as well as opening up to portrayals and storyline.
