Distributed ‘The Wonderful 101’ codes for backers found invalid, PlatinumGames apologized

Share

In time for the release of The Wonderful 101 Remaster, PlatinumGames rolled out redeemable codes to those who backed the Kickstarter project, but encountered issues along the way prompting the company to send its apologies to the recipients of the fault.

The emails containing the codes sent out en masse were either blank or have codes that are unredeemable.

Responding to the issue, PlatinumGames sends out a tweet relaying its sorry, while simultaneously guaranteeing to rectify the issue. Essentially insinuating to send actual working codes to those affected by the blunder.

No Longer a Wii U Exclusive

Originally a title exclusive to the Wii U, PlatinumGames launched a Kickstarter campaign asking donors to fund a remake.

Set in tiers, the initial asking money was $50k for the Switch port of the remake. Followed by a $250k for the Steam and subsequently $500k for the PlayStation 4. The initiative saw success when it reached the asking amount of $800 million to bring the game to current-gen platforms, excluding Xbox One.

But the donations kept on rolling. As of writing, the overall donations are currently at roughly $2 million or 235 million Yen. This subsequently adds new features to the game, such as a Time Attack, Luka’s First Mission, Remix Soundtrack, and Luka’s Second Mission.

As per the Kickstarter page, as many as 33,199 people donated to the cause. Consequently, granting themselves immediate access to the game at launch.

According to Kickstarter tradition, donors who pledged a certain amount to the cause will receive a copy of the game when it releases. The kind of item a donor will receive depends invariably to the amount pledged.

For instance, individuals who choose to pledge at least 3900 Japanese yen entitle themselves for the digital copy of the game. Higher amounts, obviously, grants better paybacks, such as an actual physical copy.

Releasing Digitally, Physically Soon

Donors of The Wonderful 101 Remastered Kickstarter project may already be getting their digital copies as of right now.

For general consumers, the game is slated for release on May 19, 2020, to the United States. Subsequently, the rollout will also reach Europe on May 22, 2020, and Japan on June 11, 2020.

Collectors who prefer buying physical copies will have to wait a little longer for the game. Specifically, June 30, 2020, in the United States and July 3, 2020, in Europe.
