The upcoming superhero film, Doctor Strange 2, may soon resume filming amid the coronavirus pandemic. The information came from one of Marvel’s stunt performers who arrive in London.

Doctor Strange 2, fittingly called Doctor Strange in Multiverse Madness, is one of the highly anticipated movies to arrive in 2022. The first movie garnered a lot of positive reviews from fans. Thus, the sequel promises a lot of action-packed scenes. Currently, the movie is still in development. However, lead star, Benedict Cumberbatch, confirmed that filming of the movie might start in late October or early November.

“Doctor Strange 2” filming to start in London

Stunt performer CC Ice has recently revealed on her Instagram account that she is now in London. The post reads with a caption, “Welcome to the Bubble,” which refers to extended COVID-19 safety measures.

CC Ice has long been a stunt performer for Marvel’s movies, including Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok. She is the stunt double of Elizabeth Olsen for the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Moreover, CC Ice will reprise her role for the upcoming WandaVision. On the other hand, CC Ice has also worked with Scarlett Johansson for the Black Widow movie.

Although UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson implemented a four-week national lockdown, filming will not be affected. Furthermore, movie productions have followed safety protocols amid the skyrocketing of coronavirus cases. In ensuring safety protocols, the production crew arrives two weeks ahead of schedule to make sure quarantine is in place. Just like other films, the crew must undergo coronavirus testing before heading to the set.

“Doctor Strange 2” cast

Aside from Benedict Cumberbatch, who will reprise his role as Doctor Stranger, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will join the cast. She is said to be responsible for creating the madness in the multiverse.

Furthermore, Chiwetel Ejiofor confirmed to join the cast back in June. He is theorized to play Doctor Strange’s “old friend-turned-enemy.” There are also speculations that he will become a reluctant ally of Doctor Strange as well.

Plot details

Although the producers remain tight-lipped on the storyline, former director Scott Derrickson confirmed a major change in the plot. Back in the Comic-Con event, Derrickson stated that they would be “making the first scary MCU film. The synopsis reads:

“After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr. Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone. But an old friend-turned-enemy puts an end to his plans and causes Strange to unleash unspeakable evil.”
