The software developers for Dogecoin — the meme-inspired undertaking that has become a $6 billion-plus asset — are now making sure that the technology that powers the coin can deliver more positive results.
The coders said that they have come up with a new version of the protocol’s core that has the capability to improve synchronization speed — from 336 hours to 24 hours — and significantly cut mempool expiry time.
Dogecoin Core 1.14.3 is the latest boost that makes the protocol more efficient at which a node can upload blocks by getting rid of costly integrity checks that were executed each time a block is delivered to another node.
Major performance boost
The launch of the 1.14.3 was announced on the r/dogecoin discussion board on Reddit on Sunday. The update includes “important performance improvements,” and is a “strongly recommended update for everyone [running a DOGE node],” as per Benzinga.
DOGE, which was introduced as a joke in 2013, has from time to time drawn the crypto-buying public’s interest, prompting increases in its price before retreating down to trade at less than a penny per coin.
On Monday, the coin showed a seeming lack of buying movement, which has resulted in its 45% drop. In effect, DOGE has flipped key demand obstacles into supply barriers. Thus, upswings are estimated to have more energy to break through these levels.
Backed by the ‘stars’
Recently though, DOGE has attracted the attention of Tesla Inc top honcho, Elon Musk, who has made a sideline of touting the token’s potential whenever he can. Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, the self-described “God of Dogecoin,” rapper Snoop Dogg, and even an adult film celebrity have also become DOGE recruits.
DOGE has rallied 812% since the start of 2021. In the same period, bitcoin (BTC) has gained almost 60% return.
DOGE traded 0.82% higher at $ 0.049 as of this writing, with bitcoin also trading 0.54% higher at $46,637.15, according to Benzinga.
