Donald Glover is reportedly in talks to reprise his Star Wars role, Lando Calrissian, for a new TV show on the streaming platform Disney+.
The actor is apparently discussing his return with Lucasfilm, according to a YouTube channel Kessel Run Transmissions. There has been no confirmation from the studios concerned nor from Donald Glover himself, but the YouTube show was also the first to break the story about The Bad Batch and the Star Wars: Clone Wars spinoff, which Disney+ eventually confirmed.
The actor played Lando Calrissian for the 2018 middling movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and received praise for his performance. Critics said that Donald Glover “outshone and out swaggered” the film’s central character, Hans Solo (Alden Ehrenreich).

Lucasfilm wants to work with Glover again
This isn’t the first time rumors of Lando Calrissian reprisal surfaced. In February 2020, Star Wars Unity reported that Lucasfilm and Disney are eager to bring the character back and potentially work with Donald Glover again.
The report went on to speculate that the Lando Calrissian series will take place in the same timeline as Solo: A Star Wars Story. This means that Glover’s character could likely be building his network in both Cloud City and the underworld.
Lando’s next chapter after Solo
Fans of the franchise will recall that Solo: A Star Wars Story ended with Lando distancing from his friend Han Solo. Solo just acquired the famous Millennium Falcon. Meanwhile, criminal groups like the Black Sun and Crimson Dawn have started taking over the city as controlled by the sinister Maul.
It’s also possible Lucasfilm might want to do an ambitious Lando Calrissian series featuring both Glover and the original Lando, Billy Dee Williams. The show could do time jumps between young and old Lando, and hash out their stories to come full circle.
What has Childish Gambino been up to since?
Glover is also known for his alter-ego, the music artist Childish Gambino. He released the hit song This is America. The talented artist is also the star, writer, and creator of the award-winning FX series Atlanta. This show has been renewed for season 3 and 4.
Recently, he was part of the Community reunion online table read to raise money for COVID-19 victims. In that event, the actor pitched an idea for the much-awaited movie version of the comedy series.
Between his work as Childish Gambino, his production for Atlanta, and a potential Community follow-up, Star Wars fans are curious if Donald Glover would have time to do a Lando Calrissian TV show.
