Good news to all fans of Doom Patrol. The second season of the superhero series is all set to return to the small screen this summer.
DC Universe already announced last summer that Doom Patrol has been renewed for season 2 and will arrive in 2020. The decision followed after the show received excellent reviews.
It also garnered a large fan base for its quirky characters which includes Cliff Steele aka Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Larry Trainor aka Negative Man (Matthew Zuk), Rita Farr aka Elasti-Girl (April Bowlby), Victor Stone aka Cyborg and Jane aka Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero).
When will season 2 premiere?
According to reports, HBO Max announced that they will be dropping the first episode of season 2 on Thursday, June 25.
The first season was only exclusively aired on the streaming service DC Universe. But in order to further boost the show’s audience reach, they will be streaming it on the upcoming HBO Max as well.
HBO Max will officially launch on May 27 so it will all be ready to house the DC superhero show soon once it premieres.
The streaming platform also detailed that three episodes will be available on HBO Max. They will then follow a weekly release for the remaining six episodes. Meanwhile, all nine episodes will drop out weekly on DC Universe.
Season 2 plot
Like any upcoming series, Doom Patrol season 2 release date announcement also came with a synopsis.
“DC’s strangest group of heroes are back again to save the world,” said in the official synopsis.

It also teased that the sophomore run will pick up after the events of the season 1 finale wherein the heroes defeated Mr. Nobody (Alan Tudyk).
But the outcast heroes face a new challenge as they find themselves mini-sized and stuck on Cliff’s toy race car track. Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton) has betrayed them and they will be dealing with his betrayal.
The main characters will also continue to deal with their own personal baggages. Each of them has a past traumatic story that they need to face and grow from.
They will do that while trying to protect the newest member of the family, Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro).
She is The Chief’s daughter and at the moment her powers are still mysterious. All that is known is that she possesses something that is a real threat to “bringing on the end of the world.”
Stay tuned for more updates of Doom Patrol season 2.
