Dota 2 finally launched its summer event called Aghanim’s Labyrinth. The powerful mage is back to test the strength of every hero.
Aghanim’s Labyrinth allows players to group into three to enter the challenge. Taking on the challenge brings players into a level full of powerful enemies.
Solo players should not worry as solo queuing is also allowed. Players without a battle pass may also play the game for free.
What inside Aghanim’s Labyrinth?
Aghanim is the strongest wizard in Dota 2 lore. He created the fabled Aghanim’s Scepter. This time he is out to test every hero available inside the game.
With that being said, every level has strong monsters available. The choice is in the hands of the players. They have the option to pick which beast to battle with.
A player may only move forward if the beast is defeated.
Every level drops Aghanim shards. These shards came from the scepter when it broke from the trailer.
The scepter makes a hero’s ultimate stronger. This time, the shards are used to power-up each skill available.
The deepest part of the labyrinth is where the final boss is found. The Apex Mage is the last level and he is said to carry the power of a god.
Levels keep getting harder
Defeating the Aghanim and finishing the challenge is not a one time adventure. Players may repeat the mission and the levels will adjust depending on the experience.
There are Ascension Levels in-game that is activated whenever a player repeats the game mode. This means that each level escalates the challenges every time a user tries to play again.
Completing the Ascension Levels give rewards to a player such as a chat wheel voice line of Aghanim. There are four levels available. It also means that there are four rewards to pick up every after the mission.
Levels may get harder but players also gain powerups. Every run in the labyrinth gives the player a power-up called Blessings. These power-ups carry over the next round if a player fails to finish a game.
There is an incentive to play for those who have a battle pass. According to Valve, there will be an additional 2000 Battle Points given every week for BP owners.
Aghanim rewards the top players
Valve added another mechanic to this summer event. There will be a random labyrinth available for everyone.
This labyrinth is attached to a global leaderboard. It allows every player to try their luck and enter the top player’s list.
Finishing the game quickly has excellent rewards. This includes the following:
- Tier One: Aghanim Interdimensional Baby Roshan
- Second Tier: Waterlogged Kunkka shoes
- Tier Three: Arcana
- Fourth Tier: Aghanim’s Effect in-game
- This effect is available in the first week for everyone who defeats the boss
The rewards will start on July 21. But, the actual Aghanim’s Labyrinth game mode is already up for everyone.
Effective strategy so far
Defeating the Grand Magus is a tough feat. But there are hero combinations that might work.
Using Ursa, Omniknight, Winter Wyvern, and Magnus is a great lineup for the game mode.
Ursa and Magnus shall be the front liners and damage dealers. Magnus’ empower is a great damage buff while Ursa’s skills deal great damage as well. Ursa needs to build durability items such as Heart of Tarasque and Assault Cuirass.
Omniknight and Winter Wyvern shall stay at the back and will be responsible for healing the two attackers.
Do take note that Omniknight works best with his second skill and a status resistance build. Sange and Yasha with Halberd is a great itemization for this game mode.
Other heroes that might work include Tuskar, Disruptor, and Weaver.
Aghanim’s Labyrinth is a great break from the usual MOBA game mode. It is a fun game mode with a rewarding end.
