Dr. Anthony Fauci said it was “surrealistic” after learning that Brad Pitt scored an Emmy nomination for impersonating him.
Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared on Saturday Night Live in April through Brad Pitt, who impersonated the health expert to bring a good laugh on the show. The said episode entertained the audience, and it paid off after Pitt scored an Emmy nomination for the skit.
Dr. Anthony Fauci reacted to Brad Pitt’s Emmy nomination
On Tuesday, Emmy released the list of nominees for the upcoming award ceremony. Brad Pitt was nominated for the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series after impersonating the heath expert on Saturday Night Live.
“The only thing I can say [is] it’s somewhat surrealistic,” he told the Associated Press.
“I don’t get distracted by that. I have to really focus like a laserbeam on the things that I’m responsible for.”

Fauci added that it was a bit strange, and he didn’t pay too much attention to it, so it didn’t get to his head.
“I think that’s kind of interesting, it’s a little bit strange that that’s going on… But one thing for sure: It doesn’t go to my head, because I don’t pay much attention to it,” he added.
Fauci praised Pitt’s performance
Dr. Anthony Fauci previously said that he wanted Brad Pitt to play him on SNL. After seeing Pitt playing him on the show, he praised the actor.
“I think he did great,” Fauci said on Telemundo’s Un Nuevo Día.
“I’m a great fan of Brad Pitt, and that’s the reason why, when people ask me who I would like to play me, I mention Brad Pitt. He’s one of my favorite actors.”
Fauci also praised Pitt’s gesture when the actor broke character to thank him and the other COVID-19 responders.
“I think he showed that he is really a classy guy when, at the end, he took off his hair and thanked me and all of the health care workers,” Fauci continued.
“So, not only is he a really great actor, but he is actually a classy person.”
What did Pitt say after the comedy sketch
As Dr. Anthony Fauci said, Pitt broke character to deliver his message for the immunologist and other healthcare workers.
The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star knew it was the perfect timing to let Fauci and the other front liners knew he appreciates their efforts.
“And to the real Dr. Fauci, thank you for your calm and your clarity in this unnerving time,” Pitt said.
“And thank you to the medical workers, first responders and their families for being on the front line.”
