Drew Barrymore worked hard to achieve her current size. The Charlie’s Angels star shared in an interview with InStyle how she maintains her physique.
Drew Barrymore speaks about taking care of herself
Drew Barrymore did not have a perfect size her whole life. There was a time when she packed on extra pounds and had to work out hard to shed it. When asked how she takes care of herself, the Santa Clarita Diet actress mentioned her diet and workout routine.
“I eat really clean and healthy, and I do an hour of Pilates at least four days a week,” Barrymore told InStyle.
“I have to work so hard at not being the size of a bus. And it’s OK. That is just my journey. That is my karma. I don’t know, maybe I was thin and mean in a past life.”
Barrymore admitted that she felt overwhelmed between homeschool and working at first. And she hated that feeling.
“It was weird to be a mom and a teacher and a provider and a friend. I felt sad for a while that I was all I could offer my children. Then I realized that I had to get out from under it. I have so much empathy and patience for everyone but myself, it’s sick,” she added.
How does the actress cheer herself and her kids up
According to Drew Barrymore, now is not the time to feel bad at oneself. She confessed to doubting herself and beating herself up, but she realized that everything was temporary.
“Then I was like, ‘This is temporary,’” she shared about her realizations.
Barrymore said that she also tells her kids about it. She reminds them that it’s not normal, but it’s the new normal.
“It’s a learning curve, and, hopefully, this is all happening for a reason. Timing is everything — and this is not a time to get lost; it is a time to be found.”

#WELLNESSWEEK @marniealton @mbodybymarniealton This woman is my long time teacher and dear important friend. She has helped me. Healed me. Encouraged me to keep going when I felt like being strong was an insurmountable task. We have known each other for about 15 years and when I told her I wanted to transform my body for #SANTACLARITADIET she helped me. Every spring, when I would start training to become #SHEILAHAMMOND Marnie was the one who got me there. I lost 20 pounds and trained like a mother. She also is the most amazing person. She is poetry in a human being. The best heart. Her priorities are in the right place. She is humorous and so so so knowledgeable about our bodies. I love her. Inside and out. Her classes are always booked up and we all love to run to her for her spirit and leadership for all things healthy. We hope the people in the wellness world are actually healthy in their hearts and minds. It’s not all about being terminators! It’s about how to find yourself. How to be your best self. But we need guidance and we hope our teachers are smart and wise and sane! Marnie is one of the greats. Period. And if your looking for a life change or to find your consistent tribe, she is where I found mine.
