Drew Barrymore speaks about taking care of herself
Drew Barrymore did not have a perfect size her whole life. There was a time when she packed on extra pounds and had to work out hard to shed it. When asked how she takes care of herself, the Santa Clarita Diet actress mentioned her diet and workout routine.
“I eat really clean and healthy, and I do an hour of Pilates at least four days a week,” Barrymore told InStyle.
“I have to work so hard at not being the size of a bus. And it’s OK. That is just my journey. That is my karma. I don’t know, maybe I was thin and mean in a past life.”
Barrymore admitted that she felt overwhelmed between homeschool and working at first. And she hated that feeling.
“It was weird to be a mom and a teacher and a provider and a friend. I felt sad for a while that I was all I could offer my children. Then I realized that I had to get out from under it. I have so much empathy and patience for everyone but myself, it’s sick,” she added.
How does the actress cheer herself and her kids up
According to Drew Barrymore, now is not the time to feel bad at oneself. She confessed to doubting herself and beating herself up, but she realized that everything was temporary.
“Then I was like, ‘This is temporary,’” she shared about her realizations.
Barrymore said that she also tells her kids about it. She reminds them that it’s not normal, but it’s the new normal.
“It’s a learning curve, and, hopefully, this is all happening for a reason. Timing is everything — and this is not a time to get lost; it is a time to be found.”

Drew spoke about trainer during Wellness Week
Back in February, Drew Barrymore shared a lengthy post about her trainer, Marnie Alton. She credited Marnie for her body transformation and praised her for being a great trainer.
“This woman is my long time teacher and dear important friend. She has helped me. Healed me. Encouraged me to keep going when I felt like being strong was an insurmountable task,” Barrymore wrote on Instagram.
Barrymore lost 20 pounds while working out with Marnie. The latter helped her trained the way moms should do. She also praised Marnie’s humor and knowledge.
“Marnie is one of the greats. Period. And if your looking for a life change or to find your consistent tribe, she is where I found mine.”
