Duchess Camilla Parker Bowles turned heads when she showed up at the biennial Rifles Awards Dinner at the City of London Guildhall Wednesday night.
Duchess Camilla Parker Bowles was stunning in one of her engagements this week, where she reunited with the other royals. Several commented on Camilla’s look at the event because she was exceptionally stunning that evening.
Duchess Camilla looks gorgeous at Rifles awards
Prince Charles’ wife, Duchess Camilla looked incredible earlier this week for the Rifles Awards Dinner in the Print room. She showed up wearing a beautiful long black dress with V-neck cut and long sleeves. She accessorized her get-up with emerald necklace and matching earrings, Hello! magazine reported.
The Duchess of Cornwall wore her signature light blonde locks in her favorite bouffant style. She wore natural makeup for the evening event.
The duchess looked chic and very regal at the same time. At the event, she reunited with the other members of the royal family, who were also present.
Camilla was in attendance as the Colonel-in-Chief. The Royal Colonels, including the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, the Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra, were also in attendance. They were greeted by the Colonel Commandant, General Sir Patrick Sanders, and the Commanding Officers of Their Royal Highnesses’ respective Battalions.
Camilla taking over the title from Prince Philip
Duchess Camilla became the new Colonel-in-Chief of The Rifles in July 2020. The title was held by the late Prince Philip, who retired in 2017 and died in April. A short ceremony at Windsor Castle and Highgrove House was held to mark the event.
During the reception, Camilla spoke to the guests where she paid tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh.
“Your Royal Highnesses, Your Excellencies, Riflemen, ladies, and gentlemen, it is a huge pleasure to join you all this evening, for the first time as your proud Colonel-in-Chief,” Camilla said.
“It is always a daunting task to take over from a former Colonel-in-Chief, but in my case, to step into the boots of my much-missed, late father-in-law, The Duke of Edinburgh, is quite frankly terrifying. I know it was a role that he cherished and of which he was immensely proud, and it is one of the greatest honours of my life to have followed him into this illustrious role,” she added.
Camilla is one of the senior royals who steps up after Queen Elizabeth II was forced to take a backseat due to her health condition. According to royal historian David Starkey in the unearthed documentary Prince Edward & Sophie Rhys-Jones: The True Story, the duchess is the Queen’s worst nightmare and best possible hope.
