The big E3 event canceled for the year, but EA Play Live will stay. Electronic Arts will present its pre-E3 exhibition digitally on June 11.
This big summer show will showcase some of the best the gaming giant has to offer. With the coronavirus pandemic stopping major events, the show must go on for EA. Instead of doing their combo of stage shows, the gaming giant will do a digital showcase.
EA Play Live will have their usual games presentations, and title reveals for the year. The show will start at 7 PM EST/4 PM PST, and there are a ton of big expectations from the fans.
Play Live exhibition moves forward without E3
Most of 2020’s annual gaming events expressed cancellation as early as March and April. Some of the major conventions lost due to social distancing include E3, Gamescom, and SDCC. Recently, EVO 2020 also decided to cancel its annual fighting games tourney.
“EA Play Live goes digital in 2020!” said EA in a tweet. “See you on June 11th at 4PM PST… World premieres, news, and more!”
Electronic Arts started Play Live in 2016, as a next event to the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3. This move allows the publisher to give more leeway to EA for time and location. With the cancelation of E3 this year, many presenters confirmed their digital events.
Play Live will also be under the umbrella of Summer Game Fest, a new meta-event. This collaboration comes from The Game Awards presenter Geoff Keighley. They’re presenting the online exhibition as part of their lineup of industry expos.
EA Play will be live on June 11th at 4pm PST, tune in to see what @ea has next during #SummerGameFest https://t.co/KhvAqTHb1e

Details sparse on potential titles for EA Play event
Even with the announcement, fans are still unsure what to expect from EA. Some titles are swirling around the void of the internet. Some fans are hinting at the titles that they want to come out.
For starters, A new Dragon Age installment is in order so it can be a good pick. There’s also a potential for a Mass Effect sequel announcement. Even if the last sequel Andromeda was a dud, the game is too big to discard. There are rumors that Bioware’s Mike Gamble is leading a new team for a sequel.
In the past, EA presented some of their best games for the year at EA Play. EA Play 2019 showed off Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The game subsequently came out in November 2019.
With EA Play Live going all-digital, fans expect this to be the new normal for now. Many countries banned large gatherings so physical exhibitions will be impossible.
