It has been 16 years since Friends went off the air, but it remains one of the most popular sitcoms. As many wonder how it’s like to be part of an iconic TV series, Eddie Cahill, who played Rachel’s (Jennifer Aniston) boyfriend, Tag, revealed the real deal behind it.
Eddie Cahill discussed what it’s like to be on the set of a cultural phenomenon with the upcoming Friends reunion. At the time, the now-42-year-old actor was only 15 and had no idea how big the show would become.
Eddie Cahill talked about time on Friends
Cahill was still doing other things when he started working on Friends. He joined the show in Season 7 when it was already a phenomenon.
“This was kind of at the beginning of all of my professional experience as an actor,” he told Now To Love. “So there was pressure, there was just pressure in general.”
At the time, the CSI: NY star was still “a little bit naive” and didn’t know what it meant to be part of a TV series like this.
“I don’t think I even really knew what big television actually meant in the kind of broader world,” he continued. “But the pressure was very real.”
Thankfully, he got David Schwimmer’s help. The 53-year-old actor phoned him and made himself available.
He was only new to the town then, so Schwimmer wanted him to get accustomed. He even invited Cahill to come with him.
“So he took me out and, and I mean, in a sense, took me under his wing,” he revealed. “But they all offered me kindness and a sense that I belong.”
Working with the cast behind the scenes, the Conviction actor revealed they were all “very inviting.”
Cahill only did seven episodes for a year. Despite his few appearances, he still got invited to a holiday party.
“There was also a whole bunch of crew members there. I felt like I was welcomed in,” he said.

The much-awaited Friends reunion
Meanwhile, Cahill’s interview came amid the anticipation for the Friends reunion special on HBO Max.
The sitcom’s original cast is about to reunite to honor its 25th anniversary. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, every production in the entertainment industry has been put to a stop.
Entertainment Weekly reported the filming has been “pushed back indefinitely” due to the pandemic.
Hence, fans still have to wait for an official announcement about the Friends reunion’s production. Probably, it can come from Jennifer Aniston or other cast members.
