This Friday, Edward Snowden will speak at BlockDown: DeData, a virtual conference focused on the issues of ownership and consent in a world where data is king.
In 2013, while working as a subcontractor for the Central Intelligence Agency, Snowden leaked highly sensitive information from the National Security Agency.
Snowden stated this week that he used Bitcoin to conceal his identity while purchasing the servers that enabled the NSA revelations.
The Snowden revelations
“Remember the NSA news from TEN YEARS AGO? A Bitcoin payment made that possible,” he said in a tweet.
As a result of Snowden’s 2013 revelations, a global debate erupted about individual rights, privacy, and government monitoring and abuse of personal data.
Mr. Chaum, the inventor of digital cash and the “godfather of privacy”, will be among others who will appear with Snowden.
BlockDown Conference, which debuted in March 2020, is gearing up for its fifth event on December 3 from 2 pm to 10 pm CET.
Panels, keynotes, fireside talks, discussions, and more will be held throughout this one-day eight-hour special conference.
An important message
A key message from Erhan Korhaliller, chief executive of top Web3 PR agency EAK Digital and inventor of BlockDown, is that data is vital in today’s world.
“DeData gives people back control. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Blockdown to learn more about Decentralized Data, its benefits, and current potential,” Korhaliller said.
Akon, Charles Hoskinson, CZ, Sergey Nazarov, Erik Voorhees, Roger Ver, and Nicholas Merten from DataDash have all attended previous BlockDown events and given positive reviews.
