Suikoden’s spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle, has finally launched on Kickstarter, and fans have been more than willing to support so far. With its recent success, it’s apparent that we’ll be getting the game after all.
The Eiyuden Chronicle Kickstarter campaign has already launched. The developers – Rabbit and Bear Studios are asking for $500,000. As of this writing, the campaign has surpassed its goal and has raised over $1,400,000. It has reached all of its stretch goals, and fans are going to be more than happy with the news.
An instant success
The crowdfunding campaign for the game has over 1,300 supporters. What’s even better knowing is that there are still 31 days left in the campaign. The massive support for the game is most likely because fans have been longing for a new Suikoden game.
The game is created by key members from the development team of the previous entries. The most notable of which is series creator Yoshitaka Muramuya. The development team also includes key personnel from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Tales of series, and Wild Arms series.
What we know so far
The Kickstarter page for the game details everything that fans should expect from the game. It tells the story of Seign Kesling and Nowa. Two completely different individuals who befriend each other. Throughout the game, everything they know about the world will be put to the test.
Like in the Suikoden games, Eiyuden Chronicle will have over a hundred recruitable characters. However, we’ve yet to know the exact number of characters in the game. In the cult classic JRPG series, there’s always 108 characters to find.
The game will also feature a fortress building system that’s more in-depth than in the previous entries. As per the campaign page, players will have to customize their castle’s walls, army’s weapons, and more. Players can even focus on certain businesses to improve their army’s economy.
In terms of combat, the game features the classic turn-based system scene from previous entries. When facing a boss, the game’s camera shifts to add more depth and meaning to the battle.
Eiyuden Chronicle is another Kickstarter success story. There’s a lot of hype behind the game now, and fans are hoping that the developers can deliver on their promise. What’s certain for now is that the game will launch with Oct. 2022 as the planned release frame. The game will be available for current and future consoles except for the Nintendo Switch and PC.
